Relaunch Labs diverts old outdoor equipment and sporting goods from the landfill, taking them from defunct to functional.

Through a network of kiteboarders and some kite recycling magic, we're making truly one of a kind items with unique backstories.

The Story

The Launch of Relaunch Labs: January 2024

Relaunch Labs started because we had old kites in the garage that we knew had to be good for something. It felt wrong to throw away so much good fabric and also something that had so many fun memories attached to it. After making the first few projects, I knew that this was one way I wanted to help make our outdoor hobbies more sustainable in the longterm while also being able to see the fabric from our favorite retired kites on a daily basis.

It wasn't long before I needed more fabric and turned to the fine folks of the kiteboarding world to help out. By August 2024, we collected 110 kites for recycling and needed to pause donations to handle the mass of material that came in. The sewing machine is whirring away. It's an exciting ride and I can't wait to see where it goes.

I hope you'll join me on this fun project!
